Captain EO
Captain EO
Synopsis
A 3D science-fiction musical made for Disney theme parks. Michael Jackson plays Captain EO, the earnest leader of a misfit spaceship crew on a mission to deliver a gift to a dark, mechanical world ruled by the sinister Supreme Leader, played by Anjelica Huston. When the crew is captured, EO reveals that his true gift is music and dance: through song he transforms the grim landscape and its robotic henchmen into color, light, and life. Running about seventeen minutes, the film paired cutting-edge 3D effects with in-theater lasers, smoke, and lighting to create a ride-like experience. It was pure spectacle, built to show off Jackson's charisma on a giant screen.
